Pharmacy - Preventative Medicine
For the convenience of our clients and the wellness of our patients, Bloomfield Animal Hospital maintains a well-stocked on-site pharmacy. We carry only authentic products from reputable manufacturers.
Prescriptions
When you need medications immediately following your pet’s veterinary appointment, the convenience of our on-site pharmacy can't be beat. These medications are stored according to the manufacturer’s instructions, for maximum safety and efficacy. Our trained staff is here to explain dosages, and how and when to administer medication to your pet. We will discuss possible side effects or interaction with other medications your pet may be taking, and answer your questions.
We carry most common formulations for dogs, cats, and other small animals including:
- Antibiotics
- Medications for pain management and thyroid conditions
- Parasite control (for intestinal worms)
- Medicines for eyes, ears, and allergies
If your pet needs a specialized medication, we provide a prescription and referral to a local store pharmacy or compounding pharmacy.
You may pick up prescription refills here, or enjoy the convenience of our Rx home delivery service.
Prevention
While treating medical conditions is primary to any veterinary practice, we prefer to help your pet avoid health issues. Flea and tick treatments, heartworm prevention, and vitamins and supplements for the skin, go a long way toward your pet feeling great and looking good every day. Our pharmacy stocks oral and topical treatments, both prescription and brand-name over-the-counter remedies such as:
- Advantage Multi
- Feliway
- Nexgard
- Siphotrol Flea fogger, yard spray, and pet spray
- Tri-Tac Frontline Plus
- Oral hygiene products
- Shampoos
- Vitamins and supplements
Often, the best ounce of prevention comes in the form of high-quality pet food. Our pharmacy carries these prescription diet products to meet special nutritional needs at every stage in your pet's life:
- Hill's Prescription Diet
- Purina Veterinary Diet
- Iams Veterinary Formula
- Royal Canin Veterinary Diet
These are high-demand items. Please call before stopping by the hospital to pick up pet food, to be sure it is currently in stock.
Return Policy
Based on FDA Compliance Policy Guideline 7132.09 and directives from the Board of Pharmacy, we should not accept returns of drug items. Bloomfield Animal Hospital is responsible for adulteration or contamination of drugs.
Our pharmacy is not at liberty to accept any product that we’ve dispensed, for a refund, unless it is in a sealed, pre-packaged container or an unopened foil wrapper. In those cases, we will refund 75 percent of the purchase price. NO product past expiration will be accepted under any circumstances. Unopened and opened bags of prescription dry pet food and unopened canned foods will be granted a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
When your pet needs medication or you spend hard-earned dollars on special food, you want to know that it is fresh and has not been tampered with, opened, or returned. We extend that level of responsibility to all clients and patients.
Bloomfield Animal Hospital is required to strictly adhere to these guidelines, and staff may not make exceptions to the pharmacy return policy. Thank you for your understanding.
